A few days ago, I received a message from WordPress: “Happy Anniversary with wordpress.com”. Shortly after, WordPress congratulated me for receiving 50 likes and 20 follows on the blog. It made me happy to see that I managed to keep blogging one year long. It has been a long time and I learned a lot. It was not always easy to get motivated to write and I have had moments of doubt during this year of blogging but now I am glad I did not give up.

My results since June 2018: one year of blogging
During the first months of my blogging journey, traffic was very low. During the third last months, I have seen a big increase in the number of blog readers though.
Here are my monthly results since June 2018:
- June: 5 views
- July: 20 views
- August: 92 views
- September: 112 views
- October: 131 views
- November: 202 views
- December: 273 views
- January: 321 views
- February: 359 views
- March: 703 views
- April: 1.127 views
- May: 1.093 views
Most of my traffic still comes from Pinterest. I now have by Pinterest 33.5 K monthly viewers and 1,047 followers. However, most of these views concern… one single post. My post How to change your life in 100 days, which I wrote in August 2018, has started working very well on Pinterest a few months ago. Actually, on the 4,078 views I got since the beginning of 2019, there are 2,742 views just for this post.
I also use Bloglovin but do not get much traffic from this website. I still like the website though because it is very low maintenance. I also get a little traffic from the wordpress reader.
I also got more comments in 2019 than in 2018. This is logical. The more traffic you have, the more comments. I am very happy about the increase in comments.
Things to improve
There are a lot of things I could do to improve my blog. I have lots of ideas but not enough time to develop them. There are some points I will have to work on in the future though.
- blog design: my blog design is very simple. In the future, I would like to find something nicer.
- traffic: there are many things I could do to improve my traffic. I could work on my Pinterest strategy, or start using a new social network, or I could work on setting up a “real” email list.
- monetizing the blog: I joined the Amazon affiliate program some months ago but did not really earn money through this. This is something I should work more on.
- connecting with other bloggers: I have not spent as much time commenting on other blogs as I would have wished. Moreover, some bloggers I had been following seem to have stopped blogging, which makes me a little sad. I hope they soon write some new posts.
