    My Christmas bucket list

Christmas is coming. Unfortunately, the whole family is facing a bad cold and we are sneezing and coughing a lot. However, we are very excited about Christmas and already started Christmas related activities. Here is my Christmas bucket list, a small list of things we have done or plan to do. Bake Christmas cookies: done! We even baked twice, once only with the children and the second time with a friend of my daughter that we had invited. Decorate the Christmas tree: done! Bake Lebkuchen (German gingerbread cookies): we want to do that on Saturday Bake a French bûche au chocolat (French Christmas cake): planned for Christmas day Prepare a…

    Cultural differences and nursery school

My son began nursery school this week. At first, he was a little disappointed because I had told him there would be lots of toys and actually, the nursery school has gone minimalist for three weeks already. This means there are no toys at all until the end of the minimalist experiment next week. Eventually, he is loving going there though. I am really glad to see he is happy there.  My son is going to a typical German nursery school whereas my daughter had gone to the French-German nursery school. I found it interesting to see how different both nursery schools could be. Strangely enough, the younger the children…

    Our favorite toys this Summer

As this Summer has been particularly hot until now, the boys have spent much time in water. We just run some water (not too much!) in the bathtub and we let them play with their bath toys. We recently bought new bath toys that the children particularly love but there are other favorite toys with which the children currently play a lot. This post may contain affiliate links. See the Disclosures page for more information. Our favorite toys We are happy we bought these new bath toys because the children had a lot of fun with them. Even my daughter, who is seven, loved playing with them in the bathtub.…

    One year of blogging

A few days ago, I received a message from WordPress: “Happy Anniversary with wordpress.com”. Shortly after, WordPress congratulated me for receiving 50 likes and 20 follows on the blog. It made me happy to see that I managed to keep blogging one year long. It has been a long time and I learned a lot. It was not always easy to get motivated to write and I have had moments of doubt during this year of blogging but now I am glad I did not give up. My results since June 2018: one year of blogging During the first months of my blogging journey, traffic was very low. During the…

Why aquaristics is the perfect hobby for your family

Aquaristics is a very comprehensive hobby which can please your whole family. Little children love feeding the fishes and even small babies love watching fishes swimming in the aquarium. As a friend of ours would say, an aquarium is the perfect baby-tv. Teenagers and adults can learn a lot about science and technology when setting up an aquarium. An aquarium can also be a perfect hobby for artistic people who like living in a beautiful environment. This post may contain affiliate links. See the Disclosures page for more information. Setting up an aquarium If you want to buy an aquarium, you do not have to buy immediately a 500 L…

Easy activities that my children love

Proposing interesting activities for children is not always easy. There are days when they won’t want to draw or read a book as you had planned and just ask for the television. However, there are some activities that they are nearly always eager to do. Here is our list of easy activities that my children love. This post may contain affiliate links. See the Disclosures page for more information. 1) Cooking and baking (and decorate muffins!) This is the most popular activity at home. My children love being in the kitchen. Sure, the kitchen does not look pretty afterwards. But the children really have fun and they learn important life…

Fun ways to celebrate Saint Patrick’s day

As a student, I spent one semester in an Irish university. This was a fun time and I liked it very much there. As Saint Patrick’s day is approaching, I have been thinking about ways to celebrate. Many people are simply going to an Irish pub to drink a beer. However, I am not going out so much any more since I am a mother and anyway I do not really like beer. As a student, when I went to a pub with friends, I would take a pint of cider and pretend I am drinking it. However, it already ended up with some guy standing in front of me…

    9 months of blogging

I have now been blogging for 9 months and sometimes I feel a little discouraged. When I read posts of bloggers who claim they could give up their day job to work full time on their blog after several months of blogging, I feel I must be doing something wrong. Yet, I really like blogging. First, I like writing and I like sharing ideas with other people. Then, I like feeling part of a blogging community, even if I can’t claim many readers. I even like the time looking for new ideas for blog posts. My results since June 2018 I launched my blog in June 2018. Before, I read…

The month of living healthier – week 4

This is now the very last day of my living healthier challenge. The last week of the month of living healthier was not as good as the week before. In such circumstances, it is difficult to follow all the rules of the challenge and I did not get as many points as the week before. Points earned during the week 22/02: 5 points no sweet drinks +1            eat fermented food +1 (yogurt)            eat five fruits and vegetables +1            have a walk…
